Blood Snake
An enormous serpentine creature slithers forward through a cloud of red mist. Its crusted body appears to be little more than a mass of coagulated blood with the single exception of its malevolent yellow eyes.

Blood Discorporation (Ex) The blood snake can discorporate in a pool of liquid, appearing as a Huge sized cloud of blood. In this form, the blood snake loses its bite attack, damage reduction, and cannot use its bloodmist. However, the blood snake in this form gains a fly speed of 60 feet (good), cannot be flanked, is immune to critical hits and precision-based damage, and all nonmagical attacks directed at it deal half damage.
Blood Spatter (Ex) The blood snake can spit a gout of boiling blood as a standard action at an opponent within 60 feet as a ranged touch attack. If the attack hits, it deals 2d6 fire damage and the target must succeed on a Fortitude save (DC 15) or be nauseated for 1 round. Each use of this ability causes the blood snake to take 5 points of damage. The save DC is Con-based.
Bloodmist (Ex) The blood snake is continually surrounded by a fine mist of blood that extends out to 30 feet. Those that breath the mist must make a Fortitude save (DC 15) or be sickened as long as they remain within the mist and 1 minute thereafter. The save DC is Con-based.
Wounded creatures in the bloodmist take 1d6 damage at the beginning of the blood snake's turn as their blood is drawn into the mist. Creatures who do not have blood are not affected by this. The blood snake heals half the total damage dealt by this ability. Creatures killed by this ability become bloodmist zombies in 1d4 rounds.
The blood snake can instantly slay any bloodmist zombie within its bloodmist as a swift action to heal itself 10 hit points.

Special Abilities
Blood Frenzy (Ex) If any living creature within 60 feet of the bloodmist zombie has an open, bleeding wound, the bloodmist zombie immediately enters a blood frenzy. It gains a +4 bonus to Strength, a +10 foot bonus to its speed, and it must move to attack the nearest wounded, bleeding creature. It does not stop attacking until all wounded creatures within 60 feet are dead.
Serpent Master (Su) Each bloodmist zombie is controlled by the blood snake; this control is identical to that of the dominate spell.
Slashing Vulnerability (Ex) Slashing weapons deal double damage to the bloodmist zombie.
Syphon Blood (Ex) The bloodmist zombie can drain the blood from a fallen foe. The bloodmist zombie can take a full-round action to draw the blood from an adjacent foe rendered unconscious from damage, healing the bloodmist zombie 10 points of damage and killing the target.

The blood snake is a vile creature that arises when the runoff blood from slaughterhouses or mass executions mixes with some manner of alchemical or magical catalyst, revitalizing the blood into a wholly new creature. Once this creature is formed, it gains the ability to fill other living things with its blood, gaining control over their corpses. Blood snakes generally hide out in sewers or other low-traffic areas of humanoid cities, waiting for a lone traveled to wander near. Once they have a sizable number of bloodmist zombie under their sway, they tend to branch out, targeting more populated areas.

Blood Snake Lore
Knowledge (arcana) DC 15 This is a blood snake, a serpent of living blood created from an admixture of blood and alchemical or magical reagents.
Knowledge (arcana) DC 20 Blood snakes are most powerful against melee combatants, who are vulnerable of becoming zombified if they succumb to the snake's bloodmist. However one must be wary of its nauseating blood spittle at a range as well.
Knowledge (arcana) DC 25 Blood snakes generate intense heat, making them vulnerable to cold.

Very nice, evocative monster. It seems to me as if the Blood Snake takes some cues from 4e monster design (the complex aura for example) which is cool to see, though I may be overthinking it.

Look forward to more.
