Special Abilities
Earth Body (Ex) Most of the mud kid's body is composed of dirt and bits of stone. Because of this, a soften earth and stone spell deals 1d6 points of damage per caster level to the mud kid (Fort save for half).Entombed Child (Ex) Under the earth body of each mud kid is a living human child which grants the mud kid life. When a mud kid is killed, there is a 50% chance the child within is killed, unless the mud kid was killed with a soften earth and stone spell, in which case the entombed child is released safely.
Poison (Ex) Sting—injury; save Fort DC 16; frequency 1/round for 6 rounds; effect 1d2 Strength damage; cure 2 consecutive saves. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Mud kids are evil fairies born of stolen human children. Mud kids or other evil fey will steal away a young human, submerge it up to its neck in a mud pit, and perform a dark rite on the child. Overnight, the corrupted earth with swallow the child, entombing it within the new mud kid. Mud kids spend much of their time searching for prey, and will feed on the flesh of nearly any creature. However, only when they feel threatened by a human settlement do they actively seek out children to propagate their foul race; when doing so, they are careful to sting the victim without killing it, letting the toxin weaken them and then stealing them away.
